Brian Meier earned his BS in Sociology and Mass Media Studies from Missouri State University (2006) before entering the graduate program at the University of Kansas. Brian is working on his master’s research paper, From Pell Grants to Plastic: Financial Aid Policies and the Stealth Privatization of Higher Education, which explores the historical shift in federal financial aid policies from grants and universal access to loans and the increasing financialization of higher education. Brian is also a graduate teaching assistant and enjoys the chance to interact with students and share his passion for sociological thought. His areas of emphasis are political sociology, economic sociology, and comparative and historical sociology.
