.......Professor Harkess (PhD Cornell) specializes in the sociology of gender, family, work, and Latin American Studies. Recent research focuses on women's employment in high-tech occupations. She currently teaches family sociology. Publications include: Women Working: Theories and Facts in Perspective (co-edited with Ann Stromberg, second ed., 1988), “The Impact of Feminism on Mainstream Medical Sociology: An Assessment” (in Research in the Sociology of Health Care, Vol. 17, 2000), and the research report Women in High-Tech in 2001 for Region VII, U.S. Department of Labor Women's Bureau (2001).
