WHY DO PEOPLE DIFFER IN THEIR ATTITUDES TOWARDS AUTHORITY AND EQUALITY?
.........This is a key question in both political sociology and political psychology. I study both fields, and I’m particularly interested in ambivalence. Traditionally, most attitude research has focused on people with relatively extreme views. But I’m curious about the people in the middle -- people whose feelings about authority, democracy, and equality are mixed. This interest has sparked inquiry into many specialized topics, historical and cultural as well as social and psychological.
